What we do
| We develop an individualised programme together with the rangatahi and their social worker. At the Auckland Museum we introduce our clients to their whakapapa and kaupapa Maori customs to help define their identity. They improve their body image though better fitness, grooming, health, cooking lessons and drug education. A lot of the personal growth occurs during art and carving sessions and outdoor sessions including tramping, bush medicine, diving, fishing with traditional kai preparation and cooking. We assisted our clients completing their court orders and gaining work or setting an education plan. Where necessary we help to obtain learners license and creating a CV. |
What we achieve
| Our primary aim is to stop clients from re-offending. We also work with them to go back to school or to take up employment. In general our clients leave with an improved self image and willingness to make a positive contribution to their family and local community. |
